These terms cover your use of Hindsight, a notification history app for Android made by Weiting Chen, and of this website. They are short because the app is simple: it runs on your phone, keeps what it records on your phone, and never goes online.
Using Hindsight
You may install and use Hindsight on phones you own or are allowed to control, for your own use. You may not reverse-engineer it, resell it, or use it to break the law or Google Play's rules. Google Play's terms also apply.
Hindsight records the notifications your phone receives, which can include messages other people send you. You are responsible for using it lawfully. In particular, don't install it on someone else's phone to read their notifications without their permission.
Your data
What Hindsight records is yours, and it stays on your phone; we never receive it and claim no rights to it. Old notifications are deleted automatically after the period you choose, and uninstalling the app deletes everything, so if you want to keep something, copy it or export it first. Hindsight Pro
Hindsight is free to use. Hindsight Pro is an optional one-time purchase made through Google Play: it keeps history for longer and adds CSV export, with no subscription. Payment, receipts and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own terms and refund policy, and the purchase is tied to the Google account you bought it with.
Provided as is
Hindsight is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. It can only keep what Android shows it: some notifications may never be recorded, for example if notification access is turned off, if your phone stops background apps, or if another app hides or changes what its notifications contain. Reminders may be late or may not appear if your phone restricts alarms or notifications.
We are not liable for notifications that weren't recorded, history that was deleted, or anything you missed as a result. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from Hindsight is limited to the amount you paid for Hindsight Pro, or nothing if you didn't buy it.
Changes to the app and to these terms
Features may be added, changed or removed. If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page will move.
Ending
You can stop using Hindsight at any time by uninstalling it, which also deletes its history from your phone. We may stop distributing the app; a copy already on your phone keeps working.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan, and any dispute is subject to the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you a right to something else.
